One of my favourite things about being a shop owner is that I get to meet so many wonderful fellow makers and designers. Once in a while, I find these hidden gems and I cannot help but share them with my friends! Meet Kristin from  QT&Co. She designs fun, inspirational everyday tees for kids as well as ladies! The first thing that struck me were the quotes and sayings on some of her tees, like this “Let Love Lead” tee! I am such a huge believer in having an optimistic outlook and many of her tees spoke to me! I hope you enjoy this little interview with her! Make sure you take a look at her Instagram feed to see the rest of her designs! You can find her at @qtandco on Instagram!

 Tell us about yourself!
My name is Kristin. I have two kids ages 3 and 2 and I have been home with them since my oldest was born. I love being home with my babies and getting to see every little milestone and stage they go through. We live in Utah and really enjoy the outdoors when it isn’t freezing cold. I love diet coke (with lime) and candy waaay too much and really enjoy the community of small shops that I’ve become introduced to through this business. Some of the most hardworking and sweet moms inspire me to try my best.

What do you sell? Where can we find your goodies!?

We sell tees! We add a little flair with patterned sleeves and we also carry a few dresses. Our website is!

What inspires you to do what you do!? What inspires you to design what you do?

I really strive to print positive and uplifting messages on the tees we sell. There are a lot of cute tees out there, but if I’m really putting my imprint on the messages kids and adults are reading, I want it to be a positive one. I want kids to remember to be kind and to be confident in the little person that they are, and I want the moms who are with those kids and reading those shirts to remember their worth and the worth of their children. My kids really drive this and all the feelings of being a mother and wanting the best for my kids but also trying to remember be positive and kind myself.

What do you hope your customers see when they receive your product? Do you have a message or theme?

This kind of coincides with the question above. I want them to feel warm inside when they see our product. I want to make sure that our tees remind people of the good around them and to try and be that good.

What’s your most popular item!?

For women, we definitely have sold the most HAVE COURAGE AND BE KIND tees. A lot of people wear them to Disney which I really love. For kids we definitely sell a lot of RUNNING WILD AND LOOKING PRETTY and MAKE TODAY HAPPY tees. The patterned sleeves are limited quantities so it’s a little harder to say on that one, but everyone seems to love florals and monochrome patterns.

What’s your favorite quote? And if you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?

Right now, I really love “To all mothers in every circumstance, including those who struggle—and all will—I say Be peaceful. Believe in God and yourself. You are doing better than you think you are.” -Jeffery R. Holland I love this because being a mom is HARD and brings out my worst sometimes. I really beat myself up and I love this little reminder to believe in myself and do my best, and that’s all that matters. If I could go anywhere I’d take my kids to Disney World. I love Disney! Like weird obsessive love it.

What are some of your favourite handmade shops, and which ones inspire you?

Some of my favorites are FreeBabes Handmade, WildSunshine threads, Ivory Kate, LuLu+Roo, Mint&Birch (:)), VioletBowtique, Rose and Belle Clothing and so many more! I think the common theme among all my favorites is that the shop owners are really genuine and kind and hardworking and I really appreciate positivity along with
some real-ness.

What’s most special to you about shopping handmade?

I think it’s really fun to just support each other in this thing we call motherhood. Most of us are moms and it’s not easy. There are hard days and we all struggle with our own demons whether they are our kids sometimes, self-doubt, health problems, and so many more things and I love the idea of supporting each other and uplifting each other. I know that when someone purchases from me, I feel a geniune sense of gratitude and want to support other moms who are so grateful that someone appreciates their creativity, hard work, and time and feels like it’s worth their money.

I hope you enjoyed reading Kristin’s little interview here on the Mint & Birch blog! I know I’ll be doing lots of shopping on her website here:
